AUGUST 2012 HIGHLIGHTS

Rogate: Mission Inside Out. Mission is both an inner and an outer journey. One connects to God at the core of one’s being (see Gal 4:7). As a result of this connectivity, one is poured out in mission for total human and cosmic salvation. In this year of the mission, it is fitting to emphasize that Jesus’ mission—in which we share and which we ought to continue—was essentially, among others, about Good News to the poor (see Lk 4:18). In our contemporary language, ‘Good News to the poor’ may be concretely translated as wellbeing, healthy humans and robust ecology, no poverty and injustice, equitable sharing of goods, no slums, clean air, refreshing environment, peace and order, education for all, decent living, humane conditions and the like. To work for these was Jesus’ passion. It was St. Hannibal’s passion. It is SHEC’s passion. It is an essential dimension of the Rogate which inspires and moves SHEC to do mission this August.

RYMSC helps flood victims. Emulating the passion and compassion of Jesus and St. Hannibal, the Rogate Youth Ministry, SHEC Chapter (RYSMC) helped in the transportation of relief goods for the flood victims at Baseco Port Area, Manila. Young as they are, the youth leaders and members have done a mission which is integral in nature.  This noble activity was conducted last August 12, 2012.

Mayor Calixto meets SHEC leaders. Last August 24, 2012 Fr. Orville R. Cajigal, RCJ and some leaders of the different phases of SHEC met with Mayor Antonino Calixto of Pasay City. They informed the Mayor about their present situation, presented their plans and asked him for his support. The fruitful meeting which was meant to improve the conditions of the urban poor was held at the conference are of the Pasay City hall.

Music session for RYMSC. People empowerment is also about enhancing the potentials and talents of people, especially of the youth. To realize this aspect of the youths’ formation, a music session was conducted at the St. Hannibal Training Center last August 26, 2012. It was facilitated by some students of St. Scholastica’s College. Leaders and members of the Rogate Youth Ministry, SHEC Chapter (RYSMC) participated in said music program.
